Questions for the movie Precious


What were the factors that contributed to Precious having low self-esteem?

Factors that contributed to Precious having low self esteem are that she was physically abuse by her mother and sexually abused by her step father. Other factors are obesity, lonliness. she is a criticized by her own mother and by other people. her mother didn;t jook out for her. like if she no care.

What signs of low self-esteem did Precious display?

Signs of low self esteem that precious display is that she is very quiet, don't have friends, people make fun of her, always looks depressed and think negatively.

What defense mechanisms did Precious use to avoid dealing with pain? Give examples.

Some defence mechanism that precious used to avoid dealing with pain is Denial because at first she couldn't face the fact that she was preganat and didn't have help from nobody, not even from her mom. And aslo sublimation because later in the movie she showed that she took good care of her child and that really loved her alot.

What neurotic needs did Precious over-use or display? Give examples

Neurotic need that precious over use or display is to restrict one life in narrow borders because she preferd being unnoticed, and alwys under value herself and talents. some examples are when she was sexually abused by her father and physicaly abused by her mother, she didn't try to find help from others but prefferd do like if nothing happened.

What helped Precious increase her self-esteem?

What help Precious increase her self-esteem is that she starting to go to school, and got help from her teacher and colleages. they showed that they really cared for her.

Some signs of higher/increasing self-esteem that Precious display are that they started to care about herself and showed that she was responsible and also showed self-respect ans self-acceptance.

What did you learn from the movie?

I learned from the movie that we shouldn't let others bring you down no matter what. Value youself and never give up, try to solve the problem and never let others bring down your self- esteem.

Would you recommend the movie to others? Why or why not?

Yes, i would recommend the movie to others to see that life is not easy and that sometimes we don't appreciate what we have. many of the times we don't know what others go through, we might think they have the most of everything, but problems we don't know.
